MIcrosoft POS ver 2.0 question

 Hello,

Could anyone tell me why my POS 2.0 is all of a sudden freezing up between screens or transactions? I use it for a small retail store not even 10k items in the database, recently when I check someone out and hit total the screen just freezes and I have to shut it down and reboot the program to reenter everything.

We purchased a new system from HP in October, I called HP and all of the hardware is working fine, they said to check with Microsoft, any ideas?  is there a log i need to empty or something? sorry for the noob question here, we are new to this and it is becoming somewhat frustrating.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

 Thank you,

Next time it freezes up,  hit the task manager and see if the application is launched twice.  Our system does the same thing.

My system does the same thing.  It will freeze betwen random transactions for about a minute.  Have you found a different solution rather than just logging in/out of POS?

What is your transaction history like?  How long have you been using the software?  How many transactions per week do you average?  Transactional data takes up far more space than item data does.

About 110-125 transactions per week, we are a small mom and pop retail store, not a lot of traffic. We have used the software for about a year now, if there is someway to erase a certain amount of transaction data and this would help my issue, please let me know.  I am not a techeeeee =) but will try anything for this stuff to work correctly.

    Regards,

    Tim

We had this issue that was caused by a sql sever configuration (full recovery). The database was trying to grow and rebuild log files and would cause a short delay. We just changed to simple restore mode.  This only allows you to restore from your last full backup.  Just another thing to check.

As I mentioned I am not a tech person, I am fimilar with computers in general, changing to the simple restore is that an easy process? Can I do it myself? If so please advise.

    Thanks
