Open Record and end Dialog

Hi Everyone,

I've done some Googling, but it's been rather unsuccessful.

Basically, we have a dialog, which checks to see if a Contact has any open cases before proceeding to make a new one. What we'd like to do, is if you select a case from the dropdown, the dialog will end, and users will be directed to the record. Can this be acheived? Worst case scenario, we'd like to be able to just open the record that has been selected, and close the dialog manually, or end the dialog when the user clicks on a URL.

    Hello,

     you can't use javascripts in dialogs, so you have to do it differently somehow..

     One option might be to create a ribbon button and use the technique described a the url below to call a javascript on your form once the dialog has finished:

     community.dynamics.com/.../108696

     For example:

    - Create a new case lookup field and put it on the contact form (make it hidden there)

    - Call your dialog as described in that post

    - In the dialog, update that new case lookup field

    - Close the dialog

    - Refresh the form

    - If a field is populated(use on-load handler), use javascript to open case form, then clean up the field and save the form from the same javascript (so you don't open that case each and every time you go to the contact)
