N. W., The data dictionary information can be found in dynamics.set which is found under C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP2013. This list all the dictionary details for the GP Application. Are you referring the dictionary details for GP?
Hi,
Did you check the dynamics.set file for the path of the data dictionary and still not available on the specified path? The dictionary will be auto created when a form or report is modified. Try modifying a form or report using Tools >>modify current window and re-login to GP and check the dictionary path.
Hi Shan,
Is he looking for a Forms or Reports dictionary? It's not real clear about what he means by 'data dictionary'. You give good advice about how to create missing dictionaries :)

You've got the answer below on how to find the data dictionary. Each product has its own data dictionary. The core modules are in the Dynamics.dic file. What information are you looking to find in the data dictionary? While we may call it the data dictionary, it actually holds all of the code and resource descriptions. The business logic is stored in the Dynamics.dic. If you're looking for a dictionary that defines the relationships between the data tables, sadly, that does not exist.
Kind regards,
leslie
I am new to GP and also looking for the same thing. My current ERP has what they call a data dictionary. I have it in a pdf file format. It lists all tables and for each table lists the fields and gives a description of what the field is. For example, GP table IV00101 does not tell me anything about what the table is, so I would refer to the description in a data dictionary saying it is "Item Master". Field names are the same thing -- sometimes the name is not intuitive and you need a description. Also, if a field has certain value options attached to it, there are descriptions of these. So an example line in my ERP's data dictionary would be:
Table: Invoices,
Table description: Master Table which stores information of sales documents;
Field Name: Status;
Field Name Description: Document Type;
Possible Values: 8 - Sales Order, 9 - Sales Invoice, 10- Credit order, 11 - Credit Memo.
I referred to this document constantly until I learned the table and field names.
I know this is a long explanation, but just trying to explain what I am looking for. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
The data dictionary as you described it does not exist. You have a couple of options. Victoria Yudins site has descriptions of the most popular table names along with a breakdown of the integer codes explaining what they mean. I have an article on my blog (Dynamics Confessions) that explains the data flow and table numbering conventions. Also, the SDK that is in the Tools folder of the installation media has some information on the main transaction and maintenance table. We would love to have what you desire, but it does not exist in a comprehensive document.
