Overview of a security role

Hi,

I've recently started on a project with a company that has used D365 F&O for a few years in those years they have created a number of custom roles and assigned those to many users in the system.

Sadly they did not document these new roles and now nobody remembers what each role does exactly.

Is there an easy way to gain insight in the rights of each role without having to open each duty, privilige, privilige under a duty or table under a role in the security configuration page.

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Jan,

Like mentioned by Girish, you can use the button 'View permissions' to get an overview of all permissions for a selected role. In that case, you don't have to check each individual duty or privilege.

Depending on the contents of the role, there can be a lot of permissions granted.

Hi, I don't think there is a way to gain insights to custom roles without going through related security objects in security configuration form. It would be difficult now but all custom role has to be documented.

You can check this security role testing tool which might help you to check the access for these custom roles.

    Hi Jan,

In the security configuration form, you will be able to view all the custom and standard roles. You need to filter by the role name which will be common among all the roles.

    Refer to the below image.

First Grid shows the list of Roles available roles. On the Reference grid you will have Duty, Privileges, Sub roles, Tables, Parent roles. - Clicking on any one of these will display related item on the third grid,

If you select Duty on the Reference grid it will display 4th grid which shows the Privilege and roles that uses the duty - You can also click on View permissions on the top to see the list of forms which are using this.

Likewise, you can analyze the form and use it.

    Thanks,

    Girish S.
