missing prvWriteUserSettings

I'd like to use the XRMToolBox with the User Settings Utility to change the time zone of all D365 users.

The user which is logged in is SysAdmin with all write priviliges.

We do use a business unit hierarchy and the user is in the top node.

When I update a usersetting from a user on the same business unit it works.

But when I want to update a user which is on a "lower level" business unit the update fails (although the SysAdmin is allowed to access it from rights priviliges).

The message says

Error User **** was not updated. Error message: Principal user (Id=***, type=8, roleCount=4, privilegeCount=657, accessMode=0),
is missing prvWriteUserSettings privilege (Id=***) on OTC=150 for entity 'usersettings'.

Any hint on this?

    Hi,

    Please check if User on Lower BU security role has Write permission on 'usersettings' entity.

    I'd say user permissions are set properly.

    Hi,

    I am not talking about User who you used to logged in to XRMToolbox. I meant user whom you wanted to change Personal settings. That used should have write permission.

    Check the link which I posted in my previous post.

    That does the trick - the User itself needs to have write permissions to the usersettings entity.
