"Unsaved changes" in some forms with active business rules.

Hello!

I added a business rule that would auto-fill some fields (say field 3 & 4) according to values of fields 1 & 2. These are normal drop-down fields and search fields. Since that day, the save button (the mini blue floppy on the bottom right) keeps saying "unsaved changes". When I deactivate the business rule, the problem disappears.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is it a bug?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

    Hi,

    it is completly normal.

Business rules are triggered on load of your form. As the business rules is setting some values, you then have dirty fields which need to be save.

If you want to resolve your problem you could run an "on demand" workflow updating your records with the rules that you defined in your business rule.

    Hi Hikmat,

I Agree with Guillaume Domont suggestion.

You can also write your custom java script to over come this issue.

    Hello Guillaume,

it's good to know that it's a "normal" thing. MS should probably change it.

The problem with on demand workflows is that the new filled values won't be visible for the user unless the form is saved and refreshed. I don't think this method will help the average users, they'll likely fill the fields manually rendering the workflow useless.

Since the JS will execute prior than Business Rules, I would only consider the Workflow solution
