Portal Authentication Failuer - "A user name is required"

Posted on by 50

Hi all,

We have deployed the "Customer Self-Service Portal" (version 8.4.0.275) and add the following parameter in "Site Settings" entity:

Authentication/Registration/LocalLoginByEmail = true.

After setting up to "true" the portal is throwing an error saying that "A user name is required" even providing a correct "email address" and password. Please, find below the error screen shoot.

Also, noticed that the LocalLoginByEmail parameter has changed the form to request the "Email" instead of the "User Name". That is my expectation.

Thank

Andre

    Hi Saad,

I am also facing the same issue and unable to login to Portal using email id and password. I used to be able to login like this and I did not change anything by going to CRM.

For clearing cache, we need to login but I am not able to login, so I cannot clear cache.

Is there any other way around?

Hi Saad, I was finally able to solve the issue by cleaning up the cache.

It worked as you have described.

    Thanks

first login to portal via admin user before adding /_services/about to your url.

    Refer this:

    Hi Saad,

We signed is the "about" page shows "Portals 8.4.1.80 51d76ff0-8d5b-4a58-9db3-24ebb248987e" and nothing else.

What you means about "clear cache"? Does it means to Restart the Portal through the administrative area?

    Thanks for your prompt reply

    Please clear you portal cache.

Login into portal first then use below url.

    <yourportalurl>/_services/about

After opening above page click on clear cache and refresh your portal page and try again.
