Hi,

Would like to know about X++ code storage mechanism in AX 2012 RTM version.

1. On which database the customized codes are getting stored.

2. In what format the code is been getting stored.

Thanks,

Guru.

In the RTM version, the model store is part of the AX database. Regarding the format - just look at those tables, if you're interested (tables are prefixed with Model). Nevertheless note that you normally shouldn't touch these tables directly, so the format is just an implementation that you don't have to be aware of (and which can change without warning).

Thanks martin for your detailed information.

I am eager to understand about the baseline database use in dynamics RTM version. what is the use of this baseline database ?, when i gone through the model tables in AX DB i checked the base line DB as well. There also same tables are exist. I do notice when we install the new AOS, the setup screen gives us hint by saying optional database. if we are not installing / using this baseline database, does it have any impact on the AX.

    Thanks,

    Guru.

The baseline database isn't used when running AX; it's used when upgrading AX or analyzing the impact of a hotfix. In these situations, you need two compare two code bases, therefore you need an additional modelstore database.
