Error : Journal id 'J0###01' is not locked by the system.

Dear All,

We are trying to post BOM journal. When we click on the post button, it shows following error.

Journal id 'J0###01' is not locked by the system.

Anyone faced this issue before ?

    Hi Arpit,

    The error is about it is NOT locked? Usually when there was an unexpected failure during posting of a journal, the journals IS locked by the system.

    Go to the BOM journal, check the 'Blocking' tab. Is the field 'Locked by system' enabled? In that case check if AX is still posting the journal. If not, uncheck this field and you should be able to post the journal.

    Yes, it usually comes as locked by the system. But for me its coming as NOT LOCKED by the system.

    HI Arpid,

    I have not seen this error before, but found the label in AX and where it is used. By looking at the coding, I do think AX should try to lock the journal when someone hits the Post button. Then it is checked if the journal is indeed locked. This is your error. The journal could not be locked by the posting process.

    Can you verify if more than one user is accessing this journal? Are you attempting to post the journal with system administrator rights or a user role? Which role is used?

    Yes, only one user is accessing this journal. and the roles are system administrator and system user.

    You could try to debug this scenario to find out why it fails. I cannot think of a possible cause if there is only one user in this journal and he has the rights to post and update.

    I'm also facing same error while posting movement journal in Batch mode.

    System is first automatically locking the journal and once batch job is executing it's auto removing the lock and giving error " Journal CNCR-000009 is not locked by system."
