Movement Journal Transactions Stuck

Hi,

A movement journal was deleted but the Net Requirements form still showed records of that journal, thus throwing of the demand. Upon some investigation, I noticed that there was no journal header record in the InventJournalTable, which was correct. However, I noticed orphaned journal line records in the InventJournalTrans table. I deleted those records from the InventJournalTrans table in test, reran master scheduling and noticed that Net Requirement records were gone.

  • Do you know if this is a known bug when journal lines are not being deleted along with the journal header?
  • Is it ok to remove such orphaned records from InventJournalTrans table and is there anything else that needs to be checked?

Thank you!

    Hi D.,

I'm not aware of a bug. You could try to reproduce this. Deleting the records from the table InventJournalTrans would be OK using the table browser in AX or using a job (x++ logic). You have to check if related InventTrans and InventTransOrigin records are also deleted or do now have orphaned records. Then also check the current on hand (or InventSum table).

I went ahead and created a job to clean up records records in InventJournalTrans, InventTransOrigin and InventTrans tables in the reverse order. I'll create another job to check for any other potential orphan records beyond this journal and I'll keep an eye if this problem resurfaces.

It's possible that something might've happened that interrupted the deletion process as I was able to find only a fraction of records from the original journal.

    Thank you!
