How to export GP Smartlist with over 100k records to Excel

Hello,

I am an IT admin trying to assist a user with the export of a Smartlist to Excel. The smartlist has over 500k records and any time we try to export it to excel, she is encountering the following error "Microsoft Dynamics GP has stopped working: A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." We use GP 2016 and Microsoft Office365 Pro Plus. She has no issues with Smartlists with fewer than 100k records. I have done some research and found that GP may have a limit of 100k. I have also found an example of a user who was able to get past this, but they did not say how. See that in this link: https://community.dynamics.com/gp/f/32/t/178607. I have not been able to find any setting that would relate to a limit in Excel, which is what that thread implies to me.

Any help would be appreciated. I can gather more information if needed. We are aware that exporting such a large smart list would take a long time, my user is okay with that.

If you have technical person you could have his/her help to do this task, issue is huge amount of data transfer.

I don't know the answer but I know smartlist is cumbersome. Could you look at Excel Report Builder instead?  If I'm using smartlist, I have to parse the data into smaller results.

Smartlist is intended as a quick query tool, so we typically recommend you limit results to ~5,000 records.  If you need more information, and you want it to Excel, the correct answer is to use either one of the default Excel Integrated reports that can be deployed from the Reporting Tools Setup window or use Excel Report Builder if you own that module to create your own report(s).  This way you can skip the time it takes to load the records in SmartList, then the time it takes to export them and instead go right to Excel, open the report and it will very quickly populate based on a direct query to the database.
