D365 SSRS Report dynamic data source Url for multiple environments

ReportReport
Posted on by

Hello,

Environment: D365, CRM online, SSRS - reporting services, Visual Studio 2015, BIDS

Problem: I have created a fetchXml report that I currently have an embedded data source pointing to my DEV environment.   How can I change the data source on the report to make it dynamically point to the correct environment that the report is be run from?  Eg. Test, QA, Production

Thanks~

    Hi Laura,

Did you get workaround to change the connectionstring when we want to deploy to UAT or production server.

    Thanks

Either you just hard code the url in the report to point at production. Or you could try writing a function in the connection string to dynamically pick up the CRM server. I personally haven't tried dynamically changing the server but you could give it a shot.

    HI Laura,

I dont think you need to change the dataconnection to your target using an embedded datasource.

just depoly your report in the crm .

    Best Regards,

    David

Add the report to the solution that is pointing to your dev environment.

Deploy that report as part of your solution to test or production.

The connection string should redirect to the new SSRS server.

    Try it out.
