    Pappu,

    Thank you for your post.

Windows 8.1 is technially not supported untill our next majore update update (Cumulative Update 5 (CU4)), but you should be able to run it just fine now. Windows 8 is supported after RMS Feature Pack 2.

I have inlcuded a link to RMS updated system requirements.

To get to Feature Pack 2 from the base install you will need to install RMS 2.0, Feature Pack 1, Service Pack 4, Feature Pack 2.

RMS 2.0 comes with SQL Server 2005 Express packaged with it, but Windows 8 no longer supports SQL Server 2005, so I would suggest going up to SQL Server 2008R2 Express.

    Thanks,

    Nicole

Thanks Nicole, This will be a good start. Note that I will install the RMS 2.0 w FP2 on 8.1 Pro as you mentioned and test it on the 8.1 platform. Your prompt response is appreciated.

    Nicole,

I tried the order of as you mentioned

    1. RMS 2.0 base

    2. Feature Pack 1

    3. Service Pack 4

    4. Feature Pack 2

and it works perfect except you have to install the SQL 2008 or higher (I installed SQL 2012) first before even you install the RMS 2.0 base. I did trial and error but at least it works and SO connects the active database. Note that the OS is Windows 8.1 Pro Edition. Next step is to try to install HotFixes.

    Thanks again,

    Pappu

I have installed the RMS with FP2 successfully on windoes 8.1 pro by following the sequency SQL2012, RMS base, FP1, SP4 and FP2. Now, I have been trying to install the RMS using the same sequence on the another machine which is my Register #1, and it gives me trouble by error, "Active X control..". This error was corrected somehow when I tried to install the RMS2.0 FP2 with "troubleshoot compatibility". However, now it gives me an error indicating "COM object error [related to QSS rule]..". Does anybody have this kind of issue or knowledge which I can use? Note that I am trying to install and configure the RMS FP2 on the machine independently from the another machine at the moment. In other words, this Register is also the server at the moment. Later, I am planning to use the server as a seperate machine. Any help would be appreciated.

    Pappu
