Is it correct to understand that a financial report now needs to be generated before being able to show the (updated) data ?

Like a report shall be generated in eg. the morning (incorporating transactions as is) but if this report is used later at 11am then this report will not show data from e.g 10.30 am if new data posted) - and not until 1pm when next generation is run - the data in report will show?

NB: in such case who updates the data in the reports?

Hi Daxer,

Management reporter generates a report based on available data, just like SSRS reports do. You can process a new report later, then it will use the latest available data. The difference between Management reporter and SSRS is, that MR will store rendered reports which can be accessed or mailed when they are ready. SSRS will only print or mail at one certain moment.

Daxer,

Your understanding is correct, the financial report generated in MR is based on the snapshot of the data in MR database. And the MR database synchronizes with AX database in a certain frequency (~ 10 mins). Once a report is generated, the data shows on that report won't change until you re-generate it.

Hi,

The transaction data is moved into the financial reporting datamart every 45 seconds. As long as the MR Process service is running and no errors are appearing in the event log or in the configuration console, that data is moving.

It looks to me that one has to use "report options" e.g. around month end in order to be sure to retrieve updated data.

One thing is to go into latest generated version, but these data may be "10 minutes old" and by using the report options (no change to e.g. period) then retrieve the updated data.
