Does GP/eConnect permit negative markdown amounts?

We're using C# to call the eConnect API in Microsoft Dynamics GP2010.  We would like to use a negative markdown amount (MRKDNAMT) in certain circumstances, however when we do so we get a cryptic error regarding an incorrect number of invoices.

Is it possible to have a negative MRKDNAMT in GP 2010?

So you are looking to have a separate "mark up" at the line level?  If so, that's an interesting question.

At a glance, I'm not seeing a way to do that, other than adjust the Unit Price upwards.  But that doesn't give you a separate field to record the amount.

The only other alternative I can think of is to add an additional line item indicating the markup, but that is obviously a different approach and likely has some downsides.

I'd be interested to hear what you come up with.

Thanks Steve.  We haven't tried it directly in GP.  It was more of a thought experiment, that might have solved a business problem we were having.  We'll go another way, thanks again.

    Hi,

It appears that the GP 2010 client does not allow negative markdowns in the Sales Markdown Entry window or the Sales Item Detail Entry window.

When I test with eConnect, I get the following error:

eConnectException: Sql procedure error codes returned:

Error Number = 788  Stored Procedure= taSopLineIvcInsert  Error Description = Input variable contains a negative value

    Node Identifier Parameters: taSopLineIvcInsert

Are you able to enter a transaction into GP with a negative markdown amount?
