Duplicate Document No. in Journal Entry

Hi

In  Dynamics GP, while entering Journals, Client have unique Journal Nos. If they use duplicate Journal Nos. then the system throws an error- "Cannot duplicate use duplicate Journal No."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In Business Central , we assume Document No.= Journal No. (Can anyone Please confirm upon this).  If yes, then Document No. must be unique and similarly If the user enters already used Doc No. then Business Central must throw Error.
But it`s not the case, it allows duplicate Document No. to get posted.
Any resolutions on this ?Can`t we setup any duplication detection rule anything like this to on Doc No.
I have the same question (0)

    Hi Bhagyashree,

You can renumbering your document number on your Journal, from Action/Function/Renumbering Document number.

    Try that!

Let me know if problem is solved!

Hi, you can enter the No. other than No. Series, there is no error.

But when you post, the error will be shown.

    Give it a try.

    Bhagyashree,

Strange, should pop error message for the Journal Entry you are posting, based on the No. Series being used. May I ask that you delete the entry and start again.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi, yes, as Steven said.

You can set a No. Series for the general journal batch, then unable Manual Nos. in No. Series page.

When you post with a document number other than No. Serie, there will be an error.

    Hope this will help.

    Thanks.

    Bhagyashree,

Yes, in the case of General Journals, the Document No. is the Journal No. In the No. Series, you set the Default Nos. checkbox and NOT the Manual Nos. checkbox. This way BC will use the next number in the series and a user cannot enter one manually or duplicate.

    Thank you,

    Steve
