Hi,

Lets say I have 3 DMF Packages which I want to upload in Sequence:
Package1
Package2
Package3

How can I upload and run all the packages together in sequence?

Best Regards,

    Hi,

Yes, you can use a batch job in Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 FO) to run multiple Data Management Framework (DMF) packages in sequence.
Dependencies matter: if Package2 depends on Package1, you must ensure Package1 completes successfully before Package2 starts.
Use Execution groups for DMF packages when you want strict sequencing.
Monitor the job history to confirm each package ran without errors before the next one starts.

    Regards,
    Abhilash

    Hi @Abhilash

Are you saying there is something available out of the box?

Can you elaborate your answer with System paths and steps to follow.

I have 3 Packages for which I will create 3 different DMF import projects, which I can do with Excel Add-in

Now I want to add the entities in these 3 projects via uploading the Package which will automatically add the entities along with File Data.

Is something available out of the box for this?

Or I have to create a single DMF package and control with the different fields available in the lines eg. Sequence, Unit, Stop Level Execution if error, etc.

    Hi MYGz,

Can you tell us how you will upload the 3 packages? Will this be a manual action in Dynamics 365 or do you have an automation using e.g. Logic Apps?

    I'm looking for manual action.

Additionlly, you can control the sequnce using manifest.xml in the packages.

    Thanks,
    Subra

    Hi,

Out of the box, there is no option to set sequence on multiple packages, instead you can set sequence of multiple entites within one package while importing.

    Hi MYGz,

In case you are manually uploading the files and start the packages, I would recommend a single package instead of 3 separate ones. Then you can clearly define the order in the sequence settings.

    Hi @MYGz,
Yes, there is an out-of-the-box option, but it depends on how strict your sequence requirement is.
For a manual import, you can upload multiple data packages into one import job.
Microsoft Learn mentions that you can create one job to import multiple packages in sequence by uploading all required packages before starting the import.
However, if Package2 depends on Package1 and Package3 depends on Package2, I would normally recommend creating one consolidated data package instead of three separate packages. Inside one package, you can control the entity order

    Thanks all,

The only problem I see with Single DMF package is sometimes we need RecIds references in the subsequent data entity.

For e.g, Ledger entity requires Legal Entity RecId and COA RecId.

How to navigate this to make the import smooth when importing for a new legal entity?

    Looking for your insights,

Could you please share the data entity details for each package and the sequence.
