how to open document only in read mode

hi all i am opening a document through  WinAPI::shellExecute(filename)...

but which opened i can able to edit that...my requirement is it should not allow me to edit is it possible?if possible how?

    Hi,

    It's not possiable to use WinAPI::shellExecute(filename) to open file in readonly mode. You may consider to write a tool to open file in readonly mode and call the tool via WinAPI::shellExecute

    WinAPI::shellExecute  is based on msdn.microsoft.com/.../bb762153%28v=vs.85%29.aspx
