What is the benefit using Item Identifiers if we have Item Cross Reference?

Item cross reference has option for unique code due to item no., variant, unit and also Type (Customer, Vendor, Barcode).

Item identifier has only item, variant and UOM. What is the benefit of using it?

    Hi,

    Item Identifiers are mandatory when using the Automated Data Capture Systems-integration of NAV. For everything else, I would use the Cross Reference-Table.
