Cost Accounting - cost reallocation between cost elements

Hello all,

I am new to the cost accounting module and trying to make sense of the reallocation options. I managed to do proper setup to reallocate between cost objects (legal entities in my case). However, I can't (and I am not sure at this moment whether it is even possible) to do reallocation of costs between cost elements? Is this possible, and can you please provide a link to a suitable documentation?

In my case, the cost elements are main accounts, so the direct question would be "how can I reallocate cost from one main account to another in cost accounting module"?

I realize that it would make sense to do this in GL, and have a journal line that would do the necessary booking, yet it is not something that we can do in GL because the reallocation should be done after certain statistical elements are imported in cost accounting.

Thanks and best regards,

Viktor Kralevski

    Hello Viktor,

I don't think that you need the cost accounting module for allocating costs from ledger account A to ledger account B.

This can be achieved in an easier and faster way by making use of ledger allocation rules that are available in GL.

Please check out this ledger allocation feature here:

    Best regards,

    Thank you Ludwig,

I agree with you that reallocation between ledgers is action that should be ideally done within the GL. I will try to better understand the issue, but after having a look at the docs that you sent me, I believe that GL allocation options should be sufficient.

    Thanks again,

    Viktor
