Hello,

I cannot understand why planning worksheet won't consider the Dampener period at all if Dampener period > Lot Accumulation Period.

In my opinion it should be considered a bug.

Thanks in advance

    Hello,

Thank you for posting on the Forum.

For any change to the system, it is recommended to post on the Microsoft Ideas site:  experience.dynamics.com/.../

The feature was documented as a By Design status in previous escalations for the following reason:

With reordering policy Lot for Lot, the Lot Accumulation Period is used to accumulate multiple supply needs into one supply order. From the first planned supply, the system accumulates all supply needs with the Lot Accumulation Period into one supply. This is placed on the date of the first supply. Demand outside the Lot Accumulation Period is not covered by this supply. Dampener Period is defined as: "Dampener Period specifies a period of time during which you do not want the planning system to propose to reschedule existing supply orders forward."

Detailed Explanation and Guidance for the conlcusion: Dampener Period specifies a period of time during which a company does not want the planning system to propose to reschedule existing supply orders forward. The value in the Default Dampener Period field in Manufacturing Setup applies to all Items except for Items that have a different value in the Dampener Period field on the Item Card. When a Dampener time is set, an order is only rescheduled when the defined dampener time has passed since the order's original Due Date.  Note: The Dampener Time period that is applied to an Item can never be higher than the value in the Item's Lot Accumulation Period field. The reason is because the inventory build-up time that occurs during a Dampener Period would conflict with the build-up period defined by the Item's Lot Accumulation Period.  Accordingly, the default Dampener Period generally applies to all Items. However, if an item's Lot Accumulation Period is shorter than the default Dampener Period, then the Item's Dampener Time equals its Lot Accumulation Period.

    Thank you again for posting.

    Best Regards,

    Tom

    Hello again,

I just wanted to add a few details from additional research.

The guidelines in Microsoft Docs does include this information: docs.microsoft.com/.../design-details-planning-parameters

I also located a previous Idea on the feature requesting similar changes: Microsoft Idea  Â· Make the Dampener Independent of the Accumulation Period (dynamics.com)

At this time, Product Management has treated this as a By Design as mentioned earlier.

    Best Regards,

    Tom

    Hello,

Adding to what Tom replied... Here is an image that might help you see how Dampener Period works with Lot Accumulation and planning.
