Hi ,

I have a doubt on what is the role of dataverse if we want to integrate D365FO with an external application which is non-dynamics.
I have read that dataverse stores data and help u leverage the tools of power platform but want to understand its role in integrations to external systems once the data reaches dataverse.

Thanks!
I have the same question (0)

There are quite a few things where Dataverse can play a role, but the most interesting for you may be virtual entities.

    Thanks Martin.
Can we use dataverse to share data with external systems without leveraging power platforms.

Dataverse is an integral part of PowerPlatform, therefore the question doesn't really makes sense.

If you mean whether you can use Dataverse without Power Apps, Power Automate and such things, the answer is yes. For example, you can connect to Dataverse through web services or use a Dataverse connector in Logic Apps.

    Hi,
Here's how the Dataverse can be beneficial for integrations:
    1. Data Storage and Consolidation: Dataverse serves as a central repository for your data. When integrating D365FO with an external application, data from D365FO can be synchronized and stored in Dataverse. This consolidation simplifies data access for external applications by providing a standardized, well-organized source of data.

    2. Data Transformation and Enrichment: Dataverse allows you to define data transformations, business logic, and validation rules. This means you can manipulate data as it flows between D365FO and external systems. You can cleanse, enrich, or reformat data as needed to meet the requirements of the external application.

    3. Security and Access Control: Dataverse provides robust security and access control features. This ensures that data shared with external applications is appropriately protected. You can define who can access what data, helping to maintain data privacy and compliance with security regulations.

    4. Leveraging Power Platform Tools: Dataverse is part of the Power Platform, which offers a suite of tools like Power Automate and Power Apps. You can use these tools to build workflows, automate tasks, and create custom applications to further enhance the integration and interaction between D365FO and external systems.

    Best regards,
    Kevin
