Our client provide us with 6 month demand forecast information on EXCEL.
What is the most efficient way to import this information onto Dynamics AX?
Sincerely,

DIXF, excel template.
Hi Mr.Gain,
Thank you very much for the reply.
I believe DIXF should be used only by development staff.
This is due to the fact that there is no roll/privilege control for entities.
Hence production staff may accidentally update chart of accounts without intention.
Could I please ask you if there is a method to restrict access privilege per roll for the updating entity for DIXF?
Hi
DIXF is a tool that can be use by the Customer without issues.
About Security, take a look to the technet link below.
Practically you can define which users or roles can run a processing group, also for a specific entities.
technet.microsoft.com/.../jj225596.aspx
Finally, DIXF can be used also for integrate AX with legacy systems.
For instance, take a look at kurthatlevik.wordpress.com/.../dax2012r3cu9-dixf-automate-importexport-without-customizations
You can use DIXF for same. Yes DIXF having role and security setup. You can use XDS setup for same. Go to Data import/ export module, you can see under setup-> setup of roles for processing group. You can define user or role wise processing group and entity setup and you restict the entity access.
Hope you are now cleared.
Hi ABTS,
If you have R3, you can use the Demand Forecasting functionality, which, as standard, allows you to import a forecast from Excel.
technet.microsoft.com/.../dn767954.aspx
If you cannot use this tool, you'll need to be importing records into the table ForecastSales (and the related table ForecastInvent). I have not seen a standard entity in DIXF for doing this.
Mr. Macchinetti,
Thank you very much for your insight and sharing of your knowledge.
This is exactly the information that I was after.
Thank you very much for the detailed solution.
Your insight is greatly appreciated.
That paper at the link is a excellent source of information.
Thank you very much for your kind assistance.
Please allow me to ask one more question regarding this matter,
I am having a issue to identify which entity I should apply to import demand forecast data to "forecastsales" table?
Hi,
There is no standard entity to import forecast sales.
You can create one by using the wizard (DIXF / Common / Create a custom entity for data import / export framework).
