I have a requirements to read excel in azure blob storage through Dynamics CRM plugin. But the crm plugin doesn't support external DLL so i think it's not possible. However i still need to read the excel file and create records from its. Since im not familiar with azure and its features.

What is the best option i have in this case ?

    Hello,

You can create an Azure WebJob that reads data from the Excel and then creates it into CRM.

You can also use the XrmTooling to generate a CrmServiceClient instance using certificate authentication (in this case you would need to register an App in Azure AD together with a signed certificate that contains the private key and an application user in CRM pointing to the registered app). You can then store the certificate in the WebJob settings and avoid hardcoding any credentials in your webjob code.

    Hope this helps,

    Radu

    Hi Fikri,

We had a similar requirement, we achieved it using Azure LogicApps which provides you OOB connectors like Dynamics CRM and Azure Blobs. Transformation logic can be written in actions and conditional statements are available. It will actually save lots of development time. You can utilize built in monitoring, retry framework.

You may find more details in this link: docs.microsoft.com/.../logic-apps-overview

Other option is to host a new Azure service which will talk to Dynamics at one end and Azure blob at another end. This will be pure custom development.

    Hi Pranav,

It's seem that Azure LogicApps is a paid service. Isn't it ?

If it is, then how much cost you have to pay to get the license?

    Hi,

Yes Azure LogicApps are paid, and costing depends how many actions or connectors you are using.

Microsoft site has a calculator which will help you get the indicative pricing.

For your scenarios you will use all Standard Connectors and every time a Logic App definition runs the triggers, action and connector executions are metered.

    Pranav
