Syncing GP database - Technical Question

Posted on by 65

Hello

Our company uses Microsoft dynamic GP and recently we have opened a new branch and we want to use the same company there.

I know its possible to connect branch with main office through VPN or similar technologies but we tried them all and they are very slow.

So we want to install a new server in branch and install GP on the server and load same database which we use in main office to branch server, this way branch users will be accessing there own local server.

Now, we want to know is there a way sync both databases (branch & main office) over night so both sites will be updated? of course I dont want to overwrite any database over the other one, I just want update all records so they will representing correct information.

For example:

Item A has a stock of 7Pcs in location 1

item A has a stock of 10Pcs in location 2

Lets say  2Pcs sold from location 1 and 6Pcs from location 2

after syncing I want Item A overall QTY to be 9Pcs (loc1 = 5, loc2 = 4 so total is 9)

Same effect should happen in all the modules (inventory, financial, sales, etc)

Thank you

You need to install these printers on your server. The drivers for these printers need to be there so that when a user connects who is connected to these printers the printers will appears. Are you printers tied to a print server or are they local printers. It would be best they are tied to a print server and then you go to your T/S server and add these printers to that server. You also have to make sure in your RDP connection you allow connections to printers.

    Hello

I have done and its working fine, much better than normal RDC.

    Just one more point please:

What is the best way to connect printers?

In our branch we have a laser jet printer and 3 Epson LQ590 dot matrix printers for invoice printing.

Now when a user click on "Print" nothing happens because GP is printing on server and no printers defined there so how can I let users print on there local machine printer?

    Thank you

The easier way to do this is to use Terminal Services in the same data center as your original GP server and have users log into it.
