Creating a new inventory tracking dimension in D365

Hello Friends,

We are working on one of the requirements where the plan is to add a new tracking dimension (other than batch number and serial ID) in Dynamics 365 finance and operations.

We also have another standard tracking dimension as ‘Owner’ but the plan is not to use that.

I saw this link Add new inventory dimensions through extension - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Docs and understand that adding the new dimension on EDT, tables, forms and reports will not be much issue, but we also need to consider adding the new inventory dimension to the class / business logic on different postings (like, Sales orders, Purchase order, Transfer orders) and on Inventory reservation logic.

I have also seen this link https://community.dynamics.com/365/financeandoperations/f/dynamics-365-for-finance-and-operations-forum/375365/custom-new-inventory-dimension where the recommendation is not to use the custom dimension and it is risky to add the custom dimension.
Is there any ISV solution which can be used to fulfill (fully or partially) this requirement? In the link, Add new inventory dimensions through extension - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Docs I saw that there are 12 generic dimensions from InventDim1 to InventDim12. Here is my query.
1. Can we use any of this generic dimension as our new dimension, if yes do we need to take any help from ISV vendor as mentioned in the link or we can customize that ?
2. If in case we can not use the generic dimension and plan to create a new dimension, do we need to speak with ISV vendor as mentioned in the link or we can customize that ?
