Hi,
Does anyone know a way to have the line item descriptions from an AP transaction, show in a general ledger report either within dynamics our thru building a GL report in Financial Reporter?
For Example when we enter a new AP transaction thru the AP module and then thru Vendor Invoice Entry. If we have multiple line items on the voucher, the header description is all we can see displayed in any Financial Reporter report as well as any GL or Trial Balance report within dynamics. Is there a way to get the line item description/text of each line to display?

No, you can consider customization. relation between lines and vendor transaction is n-1. So can update vendor transaction's description with line descriptions like a concatenate function.

Hi - could you explain to second part of the answer in a bit more detail. We would have to have someone customize the header description, to basically be a formula that picks up the header description entered and concatenate it with the line item description?
So, when we run a report the header description would contain the data from the line item description as well?
Am I right on that thinking?
There is no GL style report in dynamics or Financial Reporter that could just pickup the Line Item description directly.

We need to understand this requirement,
When we say we want all line item description to GL transaction then we need consider following:
1. In GL entry posted at header or summary level , so how can we pull all line items description what if there are 100 line items ???
2. Now e can say ,m we can concatenate and populate description , then think about the length which we are having for GL transaction description
Above are the reason , we can not populate descriptiopn of line item at header level, also these points to be consider while doing customization
yes as you explained, you can merge line item descriptions with header descriptions. And as Saurabh mentioned, you must consider some constraints.
to your second question: if you are talking about the header, yes it is not possible to show line desc directly, but if you get lines directly, you can get descriptions of course.
