Item Lot's Expire Date

Hi, I had setup items to track by Lot Number. During Receiving Transaction Entry, both the expire date and manufactured date are grey out and i could not enter any dates in both of the fields. But these 2 fields are available if we are performing Inventory Adjustment In. Can i know how we can enable the fields to entire both expire date and manufactured date during Receiving Transaction entry?

Any advise greatly appreciated.

May, Tang

What version of SW are you using?

Interesting, I just went through this exercise in 2013 R2 and experienced the same thing.  You should log a call with GP support.  For a software bug, they credit costs of the call back.  As part of your maintenance, you should have a limited number of calls.

I assume this is in GP2013.  I ran across this a couple of months ago.  The issue is timing.   Before you insert the lot you need to click on the expansion button to enter in the dates.   That said, if you forget you can still go to Edit Lot Attributes to enter in the dates (Microsoft Dynamics GP>Tools>Utilities>Inventory).

    Hi Yoke,

I am on GP2015, the utility to update the lot attribute allow me to modify the expiration date.

However, in the lot attribute entry window, the manufactured date and expiration date is always greyed out.

    How did you resolve this?

I have seen this even in GP2010 It depends on how you select the item whose Lot attributes you want to edit. If you type in the item number and then select it from the list of items in results, the item number will populate the Edit lot attributes window, but the Edit part will be greyed out as you mentioned.  YOU HAVE TO highlight the item number and press the return button. Two things happen. 1.the item description appears under the item number. 2. the field to edit lot number opens up to accept entries.  yOU CAN NOW EDIT the dates.

    Hi Folks

I am GP 2016 and this is still an issue.

Further the suggested work around of enter the manufacture and expiry dates prior to inserting the lot appears to be not available.

Enter the lot number into the manual lot number entry field.  I cannot press the blue expansion button until I insert.

After inserting I can activate the lot attribute entry window but data entry into any field is not allowed as all the fields are greyed out.

Editing after posting is very counter intuitive and time wasting.

Is this a bug or by design?  What are the correct steps to follow to gain access to the fields.

    Hi Dan

In assembly entry I can click the expansion button as you describe to key the two dates.  In purchase order receipt entry I cannot.  The expansion button is on the other side of the insert.  I have to insert then I can expand. It then appears that the dates are greyed out.  Am I missing something?

    thanks!

figured it out, then while trying to find this post again found a blog post that announced the solution.

You need to click the more details arrow on the autogenerate lot number to get the lot attribute to open.
