Account Framework

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We have a scenario where the client has subscribed on cloud GP where the account framework is 9 segment and the client's old data is residing on in-house server on GP10 which has account framework of 10 segments. After migrating from Gp10 to GP 2013 in-house when we copy the database it gives error due to account frame work mismatch. (It also had error for Dynamics DB name mismatch as on cloud the Dynamics DB name was different, but that got resolved by some scripts from some Blog.

The CRG product is expensive for account re-formatting and hence let us know what can be the solution for this and how other cloud provider migrate the old data

Before going to CRG (whom we love) I would ask the question of how far into the migration you are?

If you are blocked at a point of Account Framework - my guess would be that you are not that far into the process that you could not restart.

The cost and the time of the CRG solution might be more than the time to re-migrate onto a properly formatted Cloud host.  Stay with the same service provider, just get them to configure your GP with 10 Segments.

Unless I am missing something that seems to be the optimum solution.

You are stuck, when you have a mismatch on the account framework, the only thing you can do is using the reformatting tool.  And like Frank said, I'd go back to whoever did the cloud setup and get them to pay for it.  You can't have the mismatch.  your only option is to go to the Corporate Renaissance Group Tool.

Why did the client & cloud provider not verify the account framework requirements before attempting the migration?  I would think there's some responsibility on the cloud provider in this instance, no?
