Hello Everyone,

Apart from checking the entities list, can anyone help me that how can I know that my existing environment is Dataverse OR Dynamics?
Is there any setting or something else which I can check?

Thanks in Advance!

When you say Dynamics, what are you referring to?

Dynamics has a various apps and all come under CDS(now Dataverse).

You can create a power platform environment without a database too - and that will appear under the admin center with No Database.

    Thanks,

    Prateek

    Hi partner,

The Dynamics environment is based on CDS, so CDS is the "base".

Now, when creating a new CDS environment from Power Platform, you can select "Enable Dynamics 365 apps". So, we can create a new CDS environment to replicate the Dynamics environment.

Currently, there is no obvious setting to distinguish whether it is the D365 environment or the created CDS environment.

If "Enable Dynamics 365 apps" is selected No when creating a CDS environment, then no D365 apps can be added to this CDS environment. This is a method used to distinguish D365 environment and CDS environment.

This is a similar question for reference: https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Dataverse/Difference-between-Dynamics-instance-and-a-Common-Data-Service/td-p/519805

    Hi,

As Lu mentioned, there is flag or property which tells if it is a Dataverse Only environment. You can look at the Apps installed in environment to see if it has Dynamics 365 enabled.

Furthermore, you can use a scheme to name your environments to easily distinguish between a normal and D365 enabled environment.
