I have a client that wants to change the domain name and ip address for the server where the dynamics database and frx sysdata folder resides. Is there any impact to accessing the data/reports from a user prespective? Do ODBC connections need to be changed? I am thinking that there is little to no impact to GP/FRx for this type of change. Can anyone confirm?
Thank you,
Deb

Hello Deb,
Along with what Richard mentioned about the ODBCs needing to be changed, Dynamics GP itself doesn't really care too much about the domain, but the web applications, such as Excel Reports, SQL SRS reports, Business Portal, Workflow, Web Services, etc., do get impacted by changing the domain name on the servers and/or machines where they are installed.
With the web applications, if a domain change is made, it is pretty much a uninstall and re-install onto the new domain.
Thanks
You will to update all the DSN's on the local computers to look for the new domain name or IP address of the server. If you have deployed a package file for GP you will need to recreate that as well once the server is renamed.
