One item but 2 cartons - always sold and shipped together as one SKU

I am using advanced warehouse management.

I recently purchased some items that have 2 cartons for each single sell Item.  They will always be sold together.

What is the best way to inventory them? I have looked into Assembly to order.  Not sure this is the best, or only way to be able to track 2 seperate cartons so we can pick/ship.

We also need to be from Sales Order or the Warehouse shipment ability to see quickly the carton size/weight so we can use for booking freight shipments with carriers.

Any recommendations of different solutions within BC out of the box, or  extensions that provide the solution(s)?
I have the same question (0)

I think the easiest way is Assembly Order, for example, Item A*1 + Cartons*2=Item Set A.
But after posting, Item A*1 + Cartons*2 will no longer exist and only Item Set A will remain.
    Hope the following helps.

    Thanks.

you could create an alternative uom such as Carton of 2. Then fill out the conversion.
then on the item card, you could populate the sales uom as default to carton of 2.

If its the same exact item cart being sold in a carton of 2 pieces then I would create a new unit of measure that's 2 cartons. If its 2 separate item cards that are sold as 2 cartons then I would use assembly items.

Because we have two cartons that are separate sizes and we need to pick them at the time of processing the sales orders as well as track and record the sizes of weights of the cartons so that we can process shipping. Quotes

I have gone ahead and set up, assemble to order master items and  setup bill materials with individual  child related items
This seems to have solved the issue.

The only challenge I’m having now is using Advanced Warehouse It doesn’t seem like there’s any ability to explode the Bill materials on the sales order after creating warehouse shipment and related pic, registering the pic and posting the warehouse shipment.

There is a warning stating something about if there is reservations, you cannot explode the bill of  materials.
is there any way to do this? We would like to see the kitted items on the sales order before invoicing to the client in some cases.

you could try to cancel the reservation if the sales order. Just go to the item card and find Reservation entries, then remove reservation
