Editable fields on read only records

Hello,

I have some data, which is because of a seurity role read only. However, some fields can be edited. Moreover, when I try to save the record I get an error "Insufficient Permissions".

Has someone an idea why I can edit the fields?

The fields are also in a business role which lock and unlock filds. Could that be a reason? What can I do that the fields can't be edited anymore if the record is read only?

Thanks in advance

Amber

    Hi Amber

By default the CRM block read only editing (even forcing interface change). I think that you have two choices:

1: Reactive the register (depend that entity allow this), edit and lock this again.

2: This is not the correct approach but you can edit directly on database using a application called by the CRM interface and customized by you.

    Hi Joao José Suiter Junior,

thank you for your Response. :-)

However, I don't want to edit the records. I want to make sure that no one can change the records. Do you also have an idea how I can make sure that the records who are read only are really read only.

I found out that, the cause why the fields are not read only is because there are Business Rules who lock and unlock the fields. However, the security Roles should have a higher priority than the Business Rules.

    Thanks in advance,

    Amber

I would create a duplicate form of your original one and assign that to the security roles of the read-only ones.

Assign all other needed (edit/create) roles to the original form and set the scope of your business rules to only the origal form.

Now read only users will no longer trigger your business rules.

    I think in two possibilities:

    1. Use de CRM resource to inactive the register (to lock it) and user the Ribbon Workbenck to remove the form button.

    2. Customize a status reazon in active status and customize the plugin to doen't allow changes (forcing a exception by example) after the register in this new state.

The Wouter approach is a good idea too.

    Hi Amber,

    Any update on this?

Did you manage to implement this?

    Regards,

    Wouter
