re-adjust inventory costs

Hi,

We sometimes get a sum of money from a vendor to put against an item to bring the cost price down, is there a way to handle this in BC. I have seen charge items and that's fine against a full PO but we want to apply a cost adjustment against just the items in stock and post a purchase credit menu to a ledger.

Example
Item A
Unit Cost £100
Costing method = Average
Qty = 20
item A costs £100 been buying and selling for over a year, but sales over the last 6 months have slowed down so we speak to the vendor who offers a sum of money to bring the costs down to help us sell them.

Vendor gives us a credit for £400 which we want to apply to bring the Unit Cost down to £80 each.

This is just for current stock not previously posted sales invoices.

Thanks
I have the same question (0)

    For this you will have to use item revaluation as i describe in my blog article here:

    Then you will have to manually post a creditmemo through a journal against the vendor or through a purchase creditmemo posted to a G/L account.

    You could also assign an item chare to part of a purchase receipt as described here.

    But the revaluation method might give you better control over what is going on.
