Business Central - Planning Worksheets - Difference between Calculate Net Change Plan vs Calculate Regenerative Plan

Hi everyone,

I have a general question on the planning worksheets.  Are there any difference  in suggestions actions if I use these two different functions, one is to Calculate Net Change Plan, and another is Calculate Regenerative Plan.  I tested these two functions for a couple of items and seems no difference.  I would like to clarify if this is correct.  Thank you.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Suresh,

The blog mentions that the run time might be different - Calculating Regenerative Plans will take longer time.

The blog does not mention whether the suggestions result will be different or not if using these two different plans.  Also, could you please escalate on "Changes that would qualify for a Net Change Run"?  for example, if the sales order quantity changes, can user use the Net Change to calculate the suggestions?  Thank you.

    Hi

I hope the following articles provide more info about the difference. Depends on your production environment it is recommended to use both methods. I worked in place that we had overnight regenerate and hourly net change and work place that had monthly regenerate and daily net change.

Also, article Suresh linked mentioned below changes. In addition, change in sales order QTY still consider as part of net change

Quantity on hand change due to a cycle count

    Bill of Material change

    New Sales Orders

    Routing change

    Thanks
