re-visits

I would love to hear how I can handle re-visits. Very often the engineer can't fix the problem on the 1st visit. He may just diagnose the issue and  determine that he needs a part which needs to be ordered, a specialist engineer etc.  I don't want to use a child work order for the return visit as it is a single Work Order with a single invoice. So, a new requirement needs to be created against the original Work Order which needs to remain Open. Has anyone done something similar? Engineers will use Resco.

you basically answered your own question.

The best thing to do is create a new Resource Requirement for the Work Order and schedule a new booking this in turn will set the Work Order to Open - Scheduled again.

You could use the Work Order Status or some other Status field to set the Work Order or Booking as 'Re Visit Needed'. This will give more context to your users to whats happening.

Thanks Thomas. I thought someone might have done a workflow to create the new Resource Requirement and change the WO status and to learn from their experience. I'll give it a go.

You could try adding the "New" option against the Bookable Resource Booking form, that the Engineer can use if they want to schedule a followup visit themselves. If you use an OnLoad rule to see if the Relationship.Target contains data and Entity.IsNew, then load a Shared Variable with info from the existing booking that you came from - you can take away most of the work from them so all they need to do is input the date/time.

Chris - thanks. I'll use this if I am on a project where teh engineer re-books it himself. In my situation though, the scheduler does this, so am looking to see how I best create a new requirement etc.
