How can I make an HR division or job title inactive?

My organization is using Dynamics GP 10 including the Human Resources module. I'm looking for a way to prohibit or discourage the selection of particular HR Divisions and Job Titles that are no longer considered to be active by the organization. As I don't see an Inactive field/column for these 'lookup' tables, I'm wondering if and how I might do this. I would be interested in any suggestions, including those that use 3rd party products or custom programming.
