For code update you don't need to differentiate on-prem or cloud. Same.

For data upgrade, you need to follow below whitepaper -

    docs.microsoft.com/.../on-prem-upgrade-2012

    Dear Dr. Lugwig

Thanks for responding. Yes, we are obliged at least for now.

    Hello sayyed ar,

Why do you need to stay on-prem?

Are you legally obliged to run D365FO on-prem?

There is a specific website on MS docs that gives you a lot of insights in what to look out for when deploying D365FO on-prem.

Please have a look at the following sites:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../on-premises-deployment-landing-page

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Sayyed,

WE have followed these steps in the past -

    1. Make sure AX 2012 R3 is upgraded to the latest CU.

    2. Make a list of customizations you need to port over to D365 F&O especially related to reports. All the modified reports need to be built from scratch and hence you will to confirm if the reports are actually needed or not. The same goes for other customizations.

    3. Are there any integrations done with other applications? You will need to decide on how these would work in D365.
