I am a graphic designer by profession. Having said that, I am looking to "design" the CRM format or change colors and layout of elements. Is this possible and if so where can I find a tutorial to do this?? I would be working with software engineers who would be programming what I do, however I want to make sure that what I propose is even doable. HELP!!!!! and Thank you

Things like the overall page layout and styling, images etc... aren't able to be changed in a supported way. You can change the layout of things like forms and views. If you're looking for a drastic change in the look & functionality you approach the territory of creating your own custom application that uses the native web services to storage/retrieve data. If that's what you are looking to do, check out the CRM SDK for documentation and examples.
