Sybiz Vision to Dynamics GP migration

Hi All

We are looking to migrate from Sybiz Vision to Microsoft Dynamics GP and wish to retain as much detail from our current system as possible.

While we can create a new database and opening balances, we would prefer to have all of the current details so we don't need to maintain two systems.

Does anyone have experience in this type of migration?

Any help is appreciated.

Soma is correct you will want to use Rapid or IM. I personally would recommend Integration Manager as this has the most flexibility.

I don't know any other tools for migrating data from 3rd party application to GP rather than Rapid and IM(both are using eConnect). If you need any other help regarding the migration, don't hesitate to ask me.

    Hi Somakarpagamoorthy,

Thanks for this information, and I will have a good look at these tools.

Are there any tools that you know of that can do MYOB Premier databases as well?

We may be looking at exporting everything to Excel, and this could be cumbersome as we are looking at about 20GB of data.

    Regards

    Glenn

RE: Sybiz Vision to Dynamics GP migration

    Hi Glenn,

Already I have done migration from Quickbooks(One of the financial software) to GP. Now, I am working in a another migration project for 3rd party application to GP. So, I have experience with migration from 3rd party application to GP.

In my migration projects, I have followed below steps and tools.

    Tool: RapidMigrationTools/RapidStartServices for Dynamics GP

For migrating data from Quickbooks to GP, we can directly use this tools to complete the migration process.

Rapid Tool provide the functionality for company configuration and data migration from Excel Template to GP.

So, for migrating data from other 3rd party application to GP, we can use either Rapid Tool or Integration Manager to complete our migration process.

In my migration process, I have created a new company in GP and configured this new company with helps of Rapid Configuration Tool. Then migrated all the master record with helps of Excel Template option provided by Rapid Tool and created a GL entry to loaded opening balances for all the accounts. Finally migrated all open transactions with helps of Excel Template option provided by Rapid Tool.

Note: Before start migration, you need to complete the partially applied transactions and need to follow some addition steps which is provided by the RapidStartServices guide(www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx).

If you want to import any other data from your application to GP , use Integration Manager.

To use eConnect, you need to manually create integration. So, this will be increase our migration time.

Let me know if you need any details regarding the same.

    Hope this helps!!!

    Hi Nataraj,

    Thanks for your reply.

Sybiz Vision is an accounting package written by Sybiz Australia.

It uses a FoxPro based database.  Although access to the data files is easy, migrating all of the information would need some expertise or experience.

I will investigate the eConnect, as it will probably be what we use to get our invoicing information from our ERP package when we migrate. (This is another story for another time).

    Regards

    Glenn

    Hi Glenn,

Sybiz Vision is third party ERP product?

    if its third party then

    1) you can use eConnect to integrate all the records from Sybiz Vision tables.

    2) you can export all the Sybiz Vision table values to excel and use Integration Manager to integrate.

if you dont need overall details then,

    1) you can import master records

    2) you can import opening balances to start using GP
