Hello, I have a question.

In our company, many users need access to the following:

  • The "Production control" module, specifically the "All production orders" page,

  • The "Project management and accounting" module, specifically the "All project forecasts" page,

  • The "Product information management" module, specifically the "Released products" page

Even if we configure all access to be read-only on these pages, does this still require an SCM license, regardless of how minimal the permissions are?

Thank you for your help.

    Hi,

As far as I know, it doesn not require a license for readying. Usually, you have priviliges and duties that are something like "View" or "Maintain".

Nevertheless, I would try it out for one page to set it to read-only  and then check the license for it.

    Kind regards, Adis

I have already attempted to validate this via the Security Configuration, where the assigned role appears as Team Member. However, I am unsure whether this information is reliable. In the User License Summary, the user account — which has held the role for about a week — is not even listed. Both SCM and Finance usage values are at 0. While this may be a positive indicator, I’m wondering whether a role can in fact be set to None. If that's possible, it would be ideal. Currently, it seems there is no straightforward way to confirm the effective role assignment without having a full license, which limits our ability to verify the setup accurately.

    Hi Pamela,

There are some known issues with the new license calculation, but it can also be related to how the read only role is created. Can you check via View permissions if any other column apart from the read permissions has "Grant" access? If so, it is not considered to be read-only.
This week, I configured another role with also the same pages you mentioned in your question, but also some other duties. This role ended up as Operations - activity and not SCM.
