Hi experts,
From the Excel, there is an option to get data from online data source. I am not sure if the Dynamics 365 (online) is for CE or also for F&O as well?

The option in your screenshot is for D365 Finance and Operations. This is an ODATA feed to Excel, and can be used in Power BI as well. You can access all public data entities with the correct url string.

Dynamics 365 (online) is not Dynamics 365 financials and operations. the right thing to do in D365FO is to use the Excel add-in developed by Microsoft. Or from OData Feed.
I have worked with the connector from your screenshot, and the only drawback for me was the speed. Retrieving small data entities works great, but depending on you general journal, it can take a long time to load. Judy's comment is not 100% accurate, but it is correct that it is the preferred method to use the Open in Excel feature. Let us know if this was sufficient.
