Hi,
We have only Activity entity role for all activity entities. How can we handle security role for individual activity entity?
If I want to show my tasks to only those users belong to my BU and show my Phonecalls to my child BU users.
How can I achieve it?

    Hi Rahul,

Using Security roles you cannot achieve this, as access is managed using Activity Entity.

    Thanks

    Hi Rahul,

Unfortunately once you create entity that defined as activity...

There is no individual security role for this...

You can only manipulate the view, but not the social Pane in each Parent record.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

Don't we have any workaround to achieve this?

Make a custom entity that needs to be secured separately.  Don't turn it into an Activity, but relate it to the parent entity you need to track against.  It's not the most elegant, but it's about the only way to achieve your goal I can think of.

    Hi Wayne,

    Thanks for reply.

But can you please elaborate your answer.

    I didn't get you perfectly

So create a custom entity called "Secure Phone Call" or something like that.  Make sure NOT to check the "activity" flag on the Entity creation page, as that will make it use Activity security.

Set up your relationships to Accounts and Contacts on the custom entity you just made so you can relate it to who is calling in.

Go to the security roles for the people who need to see the custom Phone Call entity you just made and give them permissions to it.

Now you have a way for users to track information securely without exposing it to other teams.  Unfortunately, since it's not an "Activity", you won't get it in any Activity views or reports by default.  You will have to now configure all that yourself.

    Thanks Wayne.

I think the bottom line is we cannot handle security role for individual activity entity.
