Connection to Dynamics Server

Posted on by

Hello,

I want to to connect to the Dynamics Server so that i can create a Plugin. I am new to this and i am not sure if i set up my Server right to start with as i am doing this at home. I can connect and complete the first steps as shown below but as soon i select the 'Organisation' from the Pick list, the window closes and disappears so i am not able to select the 'Solution'. Any ideas why the window disappears?

- I do have solutions in the organisation and i able to see them both (managed and un-maged) which work fine.

    RE: Connection to Dynamics Server

I tried to create a new Org and i was getting an error which led me to re-install Dynamics. After the re-install i managed to set up the connection. Thank you both !

    Hi Jay,

You will need to have the Discovery Service of your Organizations.

You can get that from Settings >> Customizations >> Developers Resource

    6811.1.jpg

Once you get your Discovery Service, you can connect as shown below

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

    Hi Jay

the endpoint was just to see if it was up and running because the tool will try to contact that.

under crm discovery name you just enter "localhost" or the domain of the crm url

(are you developing on the same machine that is hosting CRM?)

the port goes under port like on the image below

select http and check "use default credentials" if you are on a machine with login access to the target crm

Thanks Bruno, when i go to Settings > Customisations > click on the Discovery Service (http://{server}/XRMServices/2011/Discovery.svc) the page fails but if i add local host and the port number http://localhost:85/{server}/XRMServices/2011/Discovery.svc it works.

Is the port number the one that is causing the failure ? how can i get rid of it ? Even when i access the CRM webpage my url starts with the PortNumber [http://localhost:85 / Servername /main.aspx#].

considering you have crm 2011, and you installed the toolkit from there to connect to a crm 2011 server, try to use the real url rather than the localhost. it is usually the name of the server. can you access the endpoint from your machine?

    http://{server}/XRMServices/2011/Discovery.svc

SDK is 2011 and VS 2010. I am doing the connection within Visual Studio as illustrated by the first two steps of this article http://mscrmshop.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/step-by-step-plugin-tutorial-using.html

That looks like an old version of the plugin registration tool

which version of CRM are you trying to connect to.

if you are trying to access a crm 2015 you will need to get the latest plugin Registration tool under the 2015 sdk
