Outbound Warehouse handling time not working on existing Sales Orders

Posted on by 161

Hello,

We have gotten to the point where we are implementing planning. I have set my Outbound Warehouse Handling time to 2D.

On new Sales Orders this works perfect. Planned Shipment Date = 9/28/2022, Shipment Date = 9/26/2022.

On existing orders the dates are aligned Planned Shipment Date = 9/12/2022, Shipment Date = 9/12/2022.

I have tried updating manually, no matter what I put in they remain the same.

I tried pushing a config package in the Sandbox, they still always stay the same date.

I created a new order that is a duplicate of an existing order and the Outbound Warehouse Handling Time is reflected.

How do I update our existing Sales Orders to reflect Outbound Warehouse Handling time??

Thanks,

Dustin

    Hi Dustin,

Ok, I understand now.  Changing the Outbound Warehouse Handling Time' on the Location card doesn't have a function to to update all existing Sales Orders/Lines.

The only way I can get this to work is if I revalidate the 'Outbound Warehouse Handling Time' field on the Sales Order Header (or lines).
When I do that on the Header, it triggers a question if I want to update the lines.  When I do that, the change is made.

When you used Config Package, have you tried this on the Sales Header?  It would have to somehow ask you to update the lines, but I'm not certain Config Package updates will go that far.

I'm not a developer but if you want some way to mass update these, you'd need to write some processing report (Extension) to update the Sales Orders and so it updates the lines.  If you need assistance with that, is there any developer out there that can provide some ideas for Dustin?   Otherwise, and I know there are 200 of them, but updating each Sales Header should work too.

    Hi Bryan,

Thanks for your response. I understand how everything is supposed to function.

Planned Shipment Date = Day it's supposed to leave dock

Shipment Date = Earliest date it can be picked.

    This is our intended outcome.

When I change Outbound Warehouse Handling Time in Location to 2D this works as intended on any new orders I create -

The problem is that I have over two hundred existing sales orders in the system. Currently they look like this -

    Screenshot-2022_2D00_09_2D00_29-130644.png

When I try to update the existing Sales Orders to reflect the Outbound Warehouse Handling time, it ignores the 2D setting and just keeps the same date in both fields -

I have tried running a configuration pack hoping that it would hard write into the fields but it just changes my inputs and keeps the same date.

We are wanting to train our Sales team to release on Shipment Date, and our Warehouse team to stage for Planned Shipment Date, but we are on hold on this change over because we are unable to update to 200 existing orders to reflect the new methodology.

    Thanks,

    Dustin

    Hi Dustin,

Thank you for posting the question.  This is Bryan and I'll provide my insight.

I'm not sure I can explain why the difference between your 2 examples, New vs. Old.

How did you update manually?  Did you set the Shipment Date back prior to the Planned Shipment date?  What happens if you do that?

The 'Planned Shipment Date' as far as I know it to be, is more for 'Requested Delivery Date' calculation for when you specify that field.   If you have 2D Outbound Warehouse Handling on your Location, and as here in my example I set the 'Requested Delivery Date' = 09/29/22 (mm/dd/yy), then my 'Planned Shipment Date' = 09/27/22.....and Shipment Date would be the same.    The Outbound Warehouse Handling Time as you can see here is not used to calculate the difference between Shipment Date and Planned Shipment Date.   If you were to increase the Shipment Date (in the future this time) to Oct. 3, then the 'Planned Shipment Date' would increase as well to Oct. 3.
