We are currently implementing GP 2013 for a Business School in Latin America.
Is there such thing as "deault" user roles in GP?
We are trying to implement as vanilla as possible, security included.

Yes Dynamics GP starting with version 10.x comes now with default built-in security roles and tasks. Out-of-the-box you get about 50 standard roles, a mix-up of Admin roles (for setup), data-entry (day-to-day ops) and inquiry roles.
Hi highly encourage you to ask your partner to provide you the (still) free Support Debugging Tool (aka SDT). This tools will tremendously help you to build your own custom roles & tasks to suit perfectly your security needs. There is a new version available in BETA right now from the original developer of the tool, that is available here.
Once the new SDT (called now GPPT) will be released final, it will be available on a subscription basis like any other GP module, but for a very affordable price (365$/yr as introduction price).
The tool is a life saver for every Dynamics GP administrator and I highly recommend you to get it.
A set of default security tasks and roles will be created in a new installation of Dynamics GP 2013. You can assign them to the users or you could create new ones.
