Website down after sending bulk emails.

Hi everyone,

We are experiencing problems on our website after sending emails via Dynamics Marketing.

We are experiencing a very high volume of requests on our website after sending a bulk email. This is much higher than the number of emails sent, which causes an extreme slowdown of the site and a blank page for the users.

We have been looking for the cause of this problem for several months with the supplier of our CMS but to no avail.

A consultant also indicated that he has seen that when sending bulk e-mails, several other pages (more than than the links in the emails) are retrieved once. But we have some difficulties to find the source of this high volume traffic.

Do dynamics read these pages? Is it possible that Dynamics Marketing creates several calls to our site? If so, how far can it go?

Many thanks in advance,

Arnaud

    We are experiencing the same.

We cannot even 'batch throttle' our sends to manage the email referral traffic driving to the site, so it just crashes.

I'm glad to see we're not first - we've had this problem for 10 months now.

We have tried to divide the bulk emails into several packages with the same result.

It happens regularly but we can't say that it happens every time.

This isn’t an expected behavior. Please file a support ticket to ensure we can assist you.

We are experiencing the same thing for about 5 months now. Even after submitting a ticket with Microsoft and working with our consultants, we still have the issue.

We send an email newsletter every day to about 50,000 subscribers.

The historical behavior was that the email went out through a different system, and about 10-15 minutes later the site would be hit with moderate traffic and no CPU issues.

The day we started sending the same template out via Dynamics, the site would be hit immediately with much higher levels of traffic, and then CPU would rapidly climb to 95%, making the site slow and unavailable at times. And then about 10-15 minutes later the normal traffic of real people would resume. Essentially the traffic curve used to be flatter - lower and longer - and now it is a huge spike all at once.

We doubled CPU and made some other mitigating changes to the template and website, and CPU was OK, but site is still very slow at send time, and still over-inflating our analytics which is the worst part.

I am still researching the problem as the experts seem to not understand. Just today I have found that a HUGE amount of requests are coming from an IP range starting with 40.94.x.x. - and that is from Microsoft Datacenters.

Have you all found any other information? Like some sort of "safe links" setting on the Dynamics side? No one can seem to find the "bot" that is doing this?

Hey Aga, We already opened seral tickets for this issue with our partner Cegeka.

We are facing exactly the same problems and tried like you to double the CPU.

We have noticed the double or even the triple of volume of requests compared to ClickDimensions that we used before.

No consultant has been able to find the source of this problem and in our exchanges with Microsoft, MS told us several times that they did not generate any visits or clicks. No bot was running and once the message was sent, nothing was left on their side.

For several weeks now we have been monitoring all our emails. Strangely enough, we have not encountered any problems for the last 2 weeks. Unfortunately we are unable to say why because we have not changed anything.

Hi, do you still happen to face the same issue?

    Hello,

Are there any known solutions for this issue? We have temporarily suspended bulk email sending from our website due to this problem. Are there any common factors or causes that we can associate with this issue?

We are experiencing a high volume of requests on our website after sending bulk emails via Dynamics Marketing, causing significant slowdowns and blank pages for users. Despite investigating with our CMS supplier for months, the issue persists. A consultant noted that multiple pages, beyond the email links, are being retrieved, contributing to the traffic surge. Could Dynamics Marketing be generating these additional calls? Any insights on how extensive this could be would be greatly appreciated.
