Inventory reserved by work that no longer exists

Inventory is showing as being physically reserved in particular warehouse/location - when I check the inventory transaction that is reserving the stock I can see it is referencing work that no longer exists i.e. the work id does not exist in the WAXWorkTable. I can't transact on the stock because of the reservation and I can't do anything to the work because it isn't there. How can I remove the inventory transaction and free up the stock?

What CU are you on? This was an issue in certain processes early in AX2012 but it was fixed.

    Hi,

Please check this option under Inventory Management > Periodic > Cleanup > Warehouse Management On hand entries cleanup.

Not sure if this can fix the issue, try it out in Test environment first.

Thanks Crispin - I was thinking this was probably the only option.

So far, I have not got the code to work either though - it does work for reservations that have somehow persisted against closed or cancelled work and where the work id still exists in the WAXWorkTable. But for these reservations where the work record has been purged, I get an error "item id must be specified"

    We are on CU7

We have quite a few instances of this problem - some are over a year old but others are from the last few months

Hi - thanks for this suggestion. I have never used this job and looking at it now I am not certain that it is what I want. It says it will delete the on hand entry which is not what I want. I want to remove the reservation so that we can then either move the stock or perform some other transaction on it. This could include an adjustment out so the net effect would be removing the on hand entry - but without a record of the adjustment so I don't think I want that.

If you have any advise about the circumstances under which this cleanup job should be used, that would be much appreciated

If you run these database consistency checkers (in 'Check' mode), do they report anything interesting?

(The top one can be run for a single item, if you use the 'Dialogue' button)

If not, is there any record of the Work Id in WHSWorkLine or WHSWorkInventTrans?
