Error: Security filter applied to Customer table when creating customer from template (BC SaaS)

Hi everyone,

I'm encountering a security-related error in Dynamics 365 Business Central (SaaS) when trying to create a customer using a template. The system throws the following message:

"A security filter has been applied to table Customer. You cannot access records that are outside of this filter."

Context:

  • The error occurs when opening or using the Customer Card page, which tries to run the CreateCustomerFromTemplate function in Codeunit 1381 (Customer Templ. Mgt.).

I have a security filter for location MAIN on my customer table, then I have a customer template for customers at location MAIN.

My users can see the correct templates but as soon as they select the template, they get the above mentioned error.

Regards,

Please check your Security Filter settings first.

    Hello,

It is obvious that you have some data in the template that has been filtered out by security filters.
Please check which data you have within security filters, and then check your customer template and which data you populate from the template to the customer table.
If you cannot make any conclusion, send us your customer template and permission set with a security filter, and we will try to find the issue within your data.

For the test purpose, you can try to create a customer from that template, but the customer does not need to have that permission set with security filters. If it works for the user without security permissions, then we will be sure that there is a problem with permissions.
After you create a customer entry, open the customer table and check all the fields that are inserted when you create a customer, and see if you have any matches with the security filtered fields.

    Greetings
