import and export data from one company to another company?

Hi,

I am using AX 2009. I need export and import data from one company to another company except transactions(AR, AP, GL). need to import all set up data in all the modules. is there any way to achieve this??

There is no straightforward way to do what you want, you can read up a bit about it here:

You can copy a company, but it is not straightforward to leave out transactional data in AX 2009. Setting up definition groups could be an option, but that is above the level of your typical average consultant, especially if you have a lot of customizations in your system where developers did not bother setting up table types.

Hi jaffer,

For AX2009 I see only the way of using definition groups but as Vilmos mentioned, this requires a deep knowledge of the table and field structure in AX. If you have some adjustments implemented, things might even get more complex. So, if you have not done this before it might be better getting a developer involved who has some experience with that.
